49 to the print shop!

So after a lot of work, 49 is at the shop. It felt like a double issue was being made. This one is packed to the gills with a lot to read. It's not thicker, but it's just one of those issues when many things come together all at once. Some things didn't come through too, and maybe there's where the extra space came from. The good part of this issue is that in that scramble / struggle to make everything happen, we had more fun. Go figure that's how it works sometimes. But now that 49 is done, issue 50 is upcoming. What should we do for issue 50? Is it just another issue? Is it special? We're going to have to figure it out and make you something fun to read and keep.

Dear Editor;
Thank you for your continuing fine coverage of many fine trends and items that might have escaped my notice, had I not read about them in Giant Robot.

About your Tetris player-like editing skills, I am always amazed at how much data you are able to cram into every issue. My aging eyes are barely able to make out the helvetica 4 point anymore! It sort of reminds me of the microminiature comic strips that the cartoonists would squeeze into some page margins of Mad Magazine!

In answer to your query, "Five Oh" is for Hawaii. An "Aloha" issue would be nice. is this too obvious? perhaps a research trip for key staff of GR ...? Tax deductible!

good luck,

ps. what was in the box?

We keep trying. I like the Mad reference, we talk about those all the time. It's definitely an influence of some sort... the box?...

I definitely think issue 50 is a milestone
and should be recognized somehow.
One time, I don’t know exactly where,
but I saw this old photo of you and
Martin when you were just starting out
the magazine. It made me think
about how far you’ve come along with
everything. Do you have photos from the
beginnings or maybe even layouts
that you can show from the past in
the 50th issue?

Old layouts... hmm, i know celebrating is sort of looking back, but i think we need to figure out a way to look back but go forward too at the same time!
