Tennis with the Sushi Men of LA.

That's me sitting on the left. I'm playing tennis with a lot of sushi men from the LA area. It's strange how all of a sudden, I've met a bunch of restaurant workers around LA and they all play tennis.

Sights and sounds

Megan Whitmarsh in her studio. She's a rad artist, and although you don't see too much art in there at the moment, that's a good sign, it means it's all somewhere else. Like the concept of trusting a big chef, it's good when an artist has no art around.

Ben Clark at Little Flower Candy Shop in Pasadena. They make good sandwiches.

I liked the graphics. Old school and so bad it's good. The Tempura font on the right is amazing.

Fiat?

Look at the names. Winona got facial hair. That's irresponsible design. All they had to do was shift the names a little, and I don't think that Winona blond, but oh well.

Ikea selling Shinjuku lamp shades. Why?!

Red Lantern lampshades are sort of funny in concept.

You have to read what they mean to know what they mean, so why not just write what the f*ck to do instead?

Giant Robot Store videos Darth Vader and Rocky vs Clubber Lang

Rocky vs Clubber Lang. Yeah, I put together these videos in a second. I wish Flipcams could do macro, but they can't. Either way, these USB toys are super funny, and I had to show them off. The Darth Vader piece is funny, and this was done towards the end of intern Yuki's stay at GR. Those are her hands. I tried to do them alone but couldn't. Either way, it's stuff from the Giant Robot stores that make people laugh.

Ayacado social

AYAcado. Yes, the avocados are getting ready. I picked some and they ripened nicely. It's hard to guess how long avocados will take to get ready. I did the old trick of putting the avocados in a paper bag along with a banana and that seems to work.

Wow. An avocado pizza! Pizza Hut doesn't make such madness, but La Vecchia does. This was excellent and a surprise.

Since when could my backyard look like this? I haven't had people over in ages.
Check out that fire! I picked the dead branches off of the avocado tree and used that wood, but it wasn't enough. It burned too quick!

LA River and Mia Doi Todd

The LA River is filled with wildlife, graf, people walking, and an odd odor. It's the water, but overall, it's an interesting place, even if you explore 100 yards. It widens and then gets narrow in spots and the narrow parts are natural, but dirt run-off.

White Minority?

Deth P Sun install

That's Deth navigating his works. There are a lot of them. 261 to be exact. Various intensities, they're actually different prices. Imagine the work it took to decipher a price list for this, names, images, titles, all based on imagery. The Horror, but at the same time, the show. It looks great on the wall. Tons of works.

Dirty Hands - Biennale show

Dirty Hands played last night. I saw Harry Kim do a lot better in his Q and A then ever. He even stands better at the mic that before. He even signed some posters and that was public event number 2 for the Biennale. More to come.

Rain at Giant Robot NY Nov 13, 8:30pm.

Bad weather jokes aside, the man the myth, the superstar will be at Giant Robot New York. He could have been at a Barnes and Noble, Target, or a Best Buy, but instead he chose Giant Robot New York. It's not often that superstars like him sign for the fans and we're the perfect place and it's a great honor he picked Giant Robot New York. It shows a lot of soul and or creative thinking. We hear from fansiders that the film is great. www.ninja-assassin-movie.com

Starpause

That's Adam Robezzoli and Jordan Datapaus. They look like they're doing a 2x4 DJ set, but chip tunes style, but instead, they're actually getting set up for the JANM Chiptunes workshop.

That's in the green room, Jordan and Paris (who came out from NYC). He does visual stylings chip style.

A look at the gear.

A decent crowd came through to check out how people are making music using Gameboys and PSPs.

Post talk people playing with the toys.

Paris and Daniel Rehn.

Daniel Dae Kim JANM

Daniel Dae Kim chillin' on a Honda. It's the special Mike Shinoda version. I'd say he should get this monster. I gave him a tour of the grounds of JANM and the Biennale while visiting the mainland from his day job on Lost. Check out the photo below... is he taller than me?
Read the Chiptunes blog post on the www.giantrobot.com/biennale.

dried persimmons

One day we'll go back to our agrarian roots. What do you do with persimmons when you can't eat them all? You dry them. I've seen dried persimmons in markets and they're expensive. I'm not talking about $5 a pound, but it's more like $20 a pound if done well. So here's some effort by my mom and dad. We'll see how they end up in a month.
