Dolphins killed

In the Japan Times, one of the gnarliest articles got published on sunday. Imagine, the killing of 2500 dolphins captured on film and put into a documentary. It's going to happen. Or, better yet, it's happening. A crew literally hid cameras in fake rocks, placed underwater mics, and hid for hours at a time in camo gear to film the killing of dolphins to the point that the sea turns red. The article will explain how it got done and what's happening there. It's like reading about the slaughter of humans. It's insane and might ruin your day. Check it out in the Japan Times.

(scoff) That picture HAS to be fake or photoshopped. Who slaughters dolphins in Cool-Aid?

On a serious note, that's awful.

I love dolphins. I think they're beautiful creatures. I don't like watching images of them being killed as much as anyone. However, we westerners eat beef, pork and chicken like they grow on trees. Considering many Asian countries are either islands or peninsulas most of their foods come from the seas. We westerners have a habit of trying to force our own views onto other societies and I don't think that's right. Indians consider the cow a sacred animal, and we mock them for it.
I don't think we should try to force Asian cultures to stop eating foods that have been on their menu for centuries, but we can ask that they take into consideration an animal's place on the endangered species list and hope they are considerate about these things.
