Appleseed Machina

At GR2, we were interviewed for the Appleseed DVD. It's a new version that has John Woo involved, so you an expect the action to be fast paced and tight. I'm not sure where anime is going, but it's getting a decent push in the US, and this is all moving forward with new techniques and style. I can't say I watched a ton of Appleseed way back, but it was a hot title back in the day. The shoot was cool, long and detailed, a lot about Asian popular culture both in the US and in Japan. Luckily, I know the topic well. Check out the trailer for Appleseed here.

Speaking of anime, I read that article about Tekkon kinkreet, your interview w/ the creator, and how the art is very different, less refined than other anime, like Mind Game. well, i JUST watched TK and it doesn't look any less difficult to draw, especially since they have to keep the whole thing uniform throughout. it feels like not-refined IS the style. it feels like trying hard to look like you don't know how to draw, which is fine, its a subtle faux sense of emphasizing the storyline over the technical aspect of the art

oh, appleseed, that's cool, it'll be random like when I saw you in that matrix anime thing, like you're the American guru of asian "stuff"
