The Ramen Girl
After spotting this in the lounge, I can't say if I'm mad or glad. I like Ramen. But The Ramen Girl is the girl who bathed in ramen in a previous issue of GR more than a decade ago. The ramen girl is not caucasian and starred in Clueless. The ramen girl is Asian and did it all to win a contest and therefore became THE RAMEN GIRL. Nude in a bathtub of ramen vs a girl going to Japan, getting dissed, learning to make ramen from a master and being in a parade. I wonder what happens?
This reeks like Karate Kid, Lost in Translation, and Tampopo. Next time, go to China.

I don't think I'd eat anything Brittany Murphy made
meh... seems like the usual "girl gets dumped and finds new life in another country/small town" formula like "Under the Tuscan Sun" and others. Whatever country they're set in can expect the same stereotypes, montages, and "wise old foreigner/country coot" characters.
I hate hollywood. But if anything this movie will encourage more audiences to get curious and go see Tampopo. So it will be newly release on dvd (Tampopo) and some Hollywood director can do some word-y intro talk about how great this movie Tampopo is.
I can't wait, since I only have a vhs copy of Tampopo:( so newly release of Tampopo will excite me (cause Miss Murphy doesn't)
