Down by the Riverside
What's going on here? Yes, these are homeless homes in Tokyo. It's not quite the same as in the US. There's a much smaller number in Japan, and although there's many clustered, they all have erected homes that are semi-permanent. In what can be an idyllic place that's a river among a network of freeways, it's just home for a small group of folks along the banks. It's a balance of feeling bad for them, but at the same time you realize, given a fat bag full of money, many wouldn't leave.
