Hot Doggery - Gray's Papaya
Open 24 hours. Gray's Papaya... It's a trip that it's Filipino dudes who run this place, but late, it's the perfect cheapo snack. The red stuff is onion, and you get 2 dogs and a drink for 3.50. The hot dog isn't bad. It's just a snack and I wouldn't bet it's the best or anything like that. The drink... why not try the papaya juice, there's signs everywhere saying it'll help you digest. Papaya supposedly has some special enzyme that helps you break down your food. That's what there's "papaya pills" to aid in digestion.

yeah - this post takes me back to my starving marvin days in new york
you need to power down four with mustard + that onion goop and swig that tropical champagne (pina colada flavor) to get the most out of the experience tho'
....gray's > white castle allday
Gray's is actually a clone of the original Papaya King:

Maybe you can compare and contrast the two.
I try to eat here at least once every time I'm in NYC. The dogs have a nice snap, the onion stuff is good, Pina colada juice is yummy, but most importantly- it's the cheapest meal in the city.
Next time you're in NYC, drop on by Crif Dogs. The fella who started the joint is named Chris, and "Crif" is simply the sound of his name when uttered with a mouthful of dog. The hole-in-the-wall has also got an old school Pac Man machine--not to mention oldie-but-goodie board games like Connect-Four...
