PODCAST

I'm going to appeal to anyone who reads this. When you make a podcast, what are you supposed to do with it, to get people to listen to it? We put it on the podcast blog, that's on the link to the front page. I figure if it's a blog, people can subscribe to it, and so forth, but really, that doesn't seem effective. So, with the work we put into these, which really isn't too tough, but the fact that they do seem decent when I listen to them again... what do we do with them?

This photo shows what it looks like when we podcast. On top of the computer monitor that's an ipod with a recording device. It works, it's not great, but it's fine. We do this in the quietest room, which is the storage area and it's pretty decent. The only noise you hear is the ipod itself.

Check em all out at this link.

I really don't know too much about podcasts per ce but having listened to a few of your "casts", isn't it basically a radio show right where you guys talk about the upcoming issue of giant robot.

I guess you have to really ask yourself what the purpose of your podcast. Is it to invite dialogue about the issue? But its not a call in show. Is it a preview of whats in the magazine? Which means, without a lot of indepth content, it could come off like a 15 minute commercial or table of contents of whats in the magazine. Is it just for fun? Which means it doesn't realy matter that people listen to it or not.

But how do you know people aren't listening to your podcasts? Through subscriptions? Through comments? Through a counter? Maybe people are listening but have nothing to say. And thats ok. Isn't it?

All great points, however, if I made a video, I put it on Youtube, if it's a song, maybe it's myspace. Where the heck do podcasts go?

if it were easy like youtube or myspace, itunes sounds great. I've tried and failed.

What about an e-mail blast of the pod cast with the issue's cover or a one page summary of the issue?

Are you guys already doing e-mail blasts
like it says on the home page or is that
still in the works? Maybe it could be incorporated
with that.

Or maybe the iphone will have a place for it.
