Who goes to Famima? On a recent trip to Famima, I walk in and see a shop that looks neat and organized. (I've been before, but this is an update)... Fashion magazines that are boring, you can get them anywhere. Mostly American stuff that's supposed to be a ready to eat section that can't beat most markets, and other goods like drinks, stuff you need for the house like $3 paper towels, and a few Japanese drinks and even stationery. So why am I writing about it? Basically, why go there? What makes this better than 7-11? What are you getting out of the "premium experience?" I'm not sure what's special, except the "buns" or bao. That's really good, but other than that? I highly doubt Famima is working, but if it is, then I'll be shocked. Do any of you go to Famima regularly?

I go but thats cuz its across the valley from my work. They have green tea and sushi for quick. Its almost like the refrigerated section of najiya but obviously not as many choices.I don't know if i'd go out of my way but its an interesting concept.
I bring up Famima, because the customer service was also terrible. I understand that it's a tough job, it's boring, all that stuff, but having one sit there and do nothing the entire time I was in there was weird. I thought there was no one in the shop. Then another person comes out, and I'm curious as to how much stuff is, he walks up and looks and says, "I don't know." I'm thinking, oh well, he doesn't know, but he'll find out. But he didn't, so I didn't buy those things. It's not like they have to care, but at least beat 7-11... but they don't.
pork buns = good
curry pan = sometimes good
chicken panini = okay
bentos = bland
onigiri = tiny
parking @ westwood and west hollywood = suck
Nice to have one on 3rd street in Santa Monica to pick up a quick snack. If I did not have a Nijiya or Mitsuwa nearby my feeling may be different.
I just went to famima the other day! Sometimes I go in to pick up a newspaper on sundays, since its in my neighborhood, and the random bottle of izze, but not much else. I bought toothpaste the other night, because the airport made me dump my brand new tube a couple days ago--but that is another angry story!--it was too late to pop by trader joe's. The plus is they had the brand I usually use, but when I got home I realized that they had seriously overcharged me for it! arg. And yes, I agree that the service is bad.
